Gus’s Story

As told by Gus’ owner:

In 2023, we were faced with one of the hardest decisions a pet parent can imagine. Our Corgi, Gus, needed emergency surgery for a perianal hernia. This type of hernia occurs when there is a weakening or traumatic tear in the muscles of the pelvis, resulting in the bladder, intestines, or fat pushing through the muscle to an abnormal position just under the skin.

The surgery was urgent and expensive—far more than we could manage on our own at the time.

Bandit’s K9Care stepped in and bridged that impossible gap.  Because of their support, Gus received the life-saving surgery he needed.

Today, he’s 12 years old, still going strong, still bossing us around, and still doing his happy little Corgi trot around the house. And although he isn’t young, he still has a lot of puppy in him and he still wakes us with morning aroos and kisses.

Bandit’s K9Care’s help didn’t just give Gus more time. It gave our kids time to really know, love and grow up with him. They get to remember Gus not as “the dog we lost too soon,” but as the goofy, stubborn, cuddly best friend who’s been right there beside them.  That is what your donation to Bandit’s K9Care does. It turns heartbreak into more birthdays, more walks, more nose boops, more “just one more hug” moments.
